Our Story

How We Met

Picture of How We Met

Our story is basically a modern day fairytale. It all started back in 2020, I (Chris) was living in Greenwood at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic while Kenzie and family were living it up on vacation in Florida. As the story goes, Mel (Kenzie's mom) was eager for Kenzie to find an acquaintance and really had a knack for swiping right. Unfortunately for her, we both swiped right and now she has to deal with my shenanigans.

Those who are unfamiliar with the dating apps, you rely on everything the person has written in their bio and their photos to know if this is going to work or end up as a fail. Kenzie's bio was very small: True Crime, Prison Documentaries, Biscuits and Gravy. Three solid choices that I could very much relate to. She was cute and had similar interests...definitely too good to be true, but I figured I'd start the conversation. I can't quite remember what I said to her, but I'm confident it was something ridiculous. Whatever I said seemed to work in my favor because the conversation continued. As her family vacation came to an end, we thought we'd have the chance to meet each other in person...until the world completely shut down. To make a long story short, I met her friends and family via FaceTime and HouseParty (talk about interesting) and the two of us did not meet in person until May 2020.

Generally when you meet someone in person for the first time it's not too big of a deal. When Kenzie and I met in person, she was moving from her sister's house, into a new apartment (thanks for the invite Shelby). So here we are, day 1 meeting in person. I show up with Dunkin' coffees for everyone, ready to move some stuff only to be greeted by Kenzie, Shelby, Kyle, Bob (Kenzie's dad) and Mike (Woodard family friend). The only thing more odd about that day was when the sweater shaver turned on as I was moving some drawers. But I survived, we survived, and here we are. We've definitely been through a lot since those days:

- Excitement of moving to 2 new places (trying to make that 3), nieces and nephews, family vacations, weddings, birthdays, holidays, and an engagement in Savannah.

- Frustration of not getting engaged before I bought a truck and being told you were going to be engaged by a certain date only to be let down because I wanted it to be a surprise.

- The lowest of the lows - losing our sweet Mia and grieving with friends/families at funerals.

Kenzie and I would not be where we are without the love, support and friendship of everyone reading this. We are so thankful you are all part of our lives and can't wait to celebrate!
