Sam and Macree first met in 2018 at what turned out to be a shared comfort spot - Pintville Craft Beer. :)

Macree was in her usual place at the bar, ordering a beer for herself and her date (who had gone to the bathroom). Sam stumbled in from the patio, a little soaked from the rain, a lot soaked from the booze...he walked right up to Mac and said in his booming manner, "HOW FORTUITOUS!!!"

She immediately turned around to face him, confused and bewildered at the bearded stranger who seemed to know her. Only, then they both realized that neither of them knew each other, and he had mistaken her for someone else.

"I'm so sorry, I thought you were someone I knew," he spluttered and took a seat near her, but not creepily near her, at the bar. He quickly took up interest in her again, though, thinking to himself, "Man, she's cute...I should sit here and write a poem about her."

Unfortunately, Sam's drunkenness wouldn't allow poetic lines to flow from his pen...instead, he chose to ask Mac why she had two beers in front of her. "Um, one is for my BOYFRIEND." And he left her alone.

Story over.

JK! Months later, when said boyfriend wasn't distracting her anymore, Macree remembered that cute guy from Pintville who she brushed off without a thought. Facebook allowed a window into Sam's soul, and most importantly, his taste in memes. She was swept off her feet immediately. They went on their first (official) date on May 2nd, 2019. They haven't spent many minutes apart since then. :)

While on their anniversary trip to New York City, Sam was plotting the right moment to ask the question. While sketching and eating lunch at Bryant Park under the trees, he got on one knee while she was taking a selfie. Macree said yes, and everyone in NYC stopped what they were doing and clapped.
