Like many great stories, ours begins at the very beginning. On the first day of our new jobs and Carlton’s doctorate program at the University of Georgia, our eyes met—just a brief moment, but one that would eventually lead us on this amazing journey together.

In the spring of 2020, Carlton moved over to the buildings where Macy lived and worked. In the summer of 2020, we had our first real conversation when Carlton was holding the on-call phone for Macy as a favor. The next day, when he dropped it off, he also brought breakfast from Mama’s Boy in Athens - because if you know us, you know we can't resist a good biscuit!

At first, he planned to just drop off the phone and leave, but something held him back. That initial connection resurfaced, and before we knew it, we were chatting and laughing for over an hour, long enough that the biscuits needed to be reheated.

After that, the conversations didn’t stop. We found ourselves connecting over everything from shows and movies to deeper conversations, and eventually, through exchanging fun gifs, we both realized what had been there all along—a spark that quickly grew into something much more.

From that first spark to the embers that formed, five years later, the flames are only getting brighter. What started with a biscuit has turned into years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Our journey has taken us from Athens to Charlotte & Asheville, and now Wilmington, as we build our life together. Along the way, we've shared everything from ferris wheels in Myrtle Beach to the Wawa in Colonial Williamsburg, coffee & tacos on Tybee Island, and countless dates exploring our favorite TV worlds—through the corridors of space and time, visits to Stars Hollow, and so much more.

And the best part? We’re just getting started.
