In May of 2016 Devin and Macy graduated high school together as classmates…maybe even friends. Having known each other for 7 years they had never once thought of each other as a soul mate (except for the time Devin claims that Macy turned him down at a jr. high birthday party.)

They started their last summer before college and just a couple months in they began to hang around each other more in group settings. Macy purposely told her best friend that Devin was cute knowing her friend would get that information around to him. And so she did and Macy and Devin started to spend time talking to one and other on their own.

Devin came back from a beach trip that summer and after having spent the whole week texting he finally asked Macy out. He picked her up that night and they sat and talked for hours on top of the concession stand of the football field. Later he dropped her off at her drive way and kissed her for the first time.

After that many days were spent together until it was time to say goodbye. Devin was staying in Joplin and Macy was leaving for college 2 and 1/2 hours away in Kansas City. They left with things uncertain and it seemed that they might just go back to being friends. (Which neither of them wanted.) After saying goodbye in person they stayed in contact for weeks until Devin finally gathered up the courage to call Macy on the 3rd of August in 2016 and tell her he wanted her to be his girlfriend. Longer story short: 8 years later, on his 27th birthday (9/08/24) in front of several close friends and family members she became his fiancé.
