Most of the time when people ask how you met your soulmate, the typical response isn't that the other person thought that they were dying lol!

Though on that Summer day at Planet Fitness in 2019, that is exactly what happened. I, MJ, was training before I had to go 2 hours away to play college football in a couple of months at Newberry College. As I made my way past the dumbbell rack, I was pulled aside by the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen in person. She was freaking out and shaking, and when I asked if she was okay, she told me "I'M NEVER DRINKING ANOTHER COFFEE BANG ENERGY DRINK EVER AGAIN! MY HEART IS RACING, AND I THINK THAT I'M DYING!" Not knowing whether to call an ambulance or not, I stayed with her for a bit and tried to calm her down. I can't remember fully what I said to her, but I guess it was enough to keep her around ;).

After that day, we had continued to talk all Summer long, and we grew closer and closer together. Although the timing of me going 2 hours away from her to go to school and Macy being in the middle of college held us apart from dating back then, we never strayed away fully from each other, and we both knew that there was something special about one another that Summer. I personally never stopped thinking about Macy throughout all of my endeavors. From being hours and miles away to having my own life away from her, I always in the back of my mind knew that there was something that made this girl unlike any other for me.

As time passed on, God moved me back closer to home, and I finished my degree out at Clemson, and of course one of the first people I told about my decision to move closer to home was, you guessed it.... Macy. Macy and I had grown stronger than ever after I had moved back home, and we eventually realized what we both needed in our lives, and it was each other. I cannot speak for her, but she truly was my missing piece.

The moral of our story is that God works in mysterious ways, such as me straying away from football when I did to come back home. I didn't know why it happened when it did, but I could not be happier that it did, because who knows where I'd be if I hadn't come back home when I did. I also couldn't figure out why God didn't lead us to fully date when we first met, but I think that her and I can both agree on the fact that we each had some growing up to do, and to watch each other grow as friends and being there as each other's number one supporters as best friends before we started dating led us to have the most loving and understanding relationship imaginable.

Macy, you truly are my best friend, and I love you so much.

P.S. Even after almost six years, I still like to think the reason her heart was racing that Summer morning was because she saw me and got nervous ;)))
