Macy grew up in Grapevine, and Tyler in Pearland. It seems fate brought them together in a volleyball class at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, in their Freshman year.


Tyler tried to strike up conversations with Macy during class, but with the class being so short and Macy always darting off to Chemistry, it wasn’t easy. After finally getting Macy’s number via Instagram, Tyler invited her to one of his fraternity’s events. It was the first time they actually had a chance to chat for more than a few minutes, and they really hit it off. They started hanging out regularly, studying together, grabbing lunch, and attending each other’s events. Tyler enjoyed spending time with Macy so much that he decided it was time to ask her out on a proper date: dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. The evening was a success, and after dinner, they shared their first kiss. That’s when Tyler knew Macy was someone truly special.


A week later, Tyler wanted to make things official. He asked Macy to be his girlfriend on March 24th, 2019. From that day on, they’ve been together through thick and thin. Over the past six years, they’ve explored new places, shared countless movie nights, tackled board games, and enjoyed fun trips to the zoo (& of course, Disney World). For the past two years, they have conquered “long distance” while Macy completes her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.


On January 10th, 2024, Tyler proposed to Macy in Jackson, Wyoming. What Macy thought to be a Porterfield family winter trip turned out to be the biggest surprise of her life with a mountainside proposal— of course she said yes!!


Macy and Tyler have created so many wonderful memories together and can’t wait for you to be a part of the best one! They are excited for you to join them as they exchange their vows in June 2025!
