Macy and Adam met in the summer of 2008 when her family moved to Texas. Their families quickly became friends. They often starred as Mary and Joseph in the annual Nativity play, since the Wests and the Frosts always spent Christmas Eve together.
For most of elementary school, Macy had a huge crush on Adam. She was an expert at coordinating her seat at school lunch to maximize the likelihood of being across from Adam at the adjacent table. Although they were both quite shy, they saw each other often since they were in the same 3rd and 4th grade classes. In the 4th grade, they had an arrangement where Macy would hide behind Adam during kickball to avoid participating, allowing Adam to kick more frequently.
Freshman year of high school, Adam and Macy rode the bus home together every day. As a result, they became close friends. They had many memorable conversations on their bus rides home: they wondered what the future would be like and gave each other advice on things like relationships and homework. Luckily, they had opposite strengths, so Adam helped Macy with her physics homework, and Macy helped Adam with his english homework.
As they eventually went off to separate colleges, Macy and Adam vowed to stay in touch. Adam was convinced Macy would be too busy with her new college friends to keep in touch; he even bet her 20 dollars that she would never call him (Needless to say, he lost that bet).
Summer of 2021, they both interned at the same company in Houston. But the typical chats in the neighborhood park, late-night McDonald's runs, and movie marathons all felt different. Eventually, Macy confronted Adam about the change in his behavior, and he admitted that he liked her, and not just as a friend. Macy felt the same, but neither of them liked the sound of two years of long distance, so they attempted to just stay friends.
Fall of 2021, they realized that just being friends was not working out for them, so Macy and Adam officially started long-distance. The result was 2.5 years of living 1400 miles apart. They visited each other a total of 17 times and had roughly 85 long-distance date nights on Zoom. Long-distance was not always easy, but they managed to make the best of it, and never ran out of things to talk about.
For one of their final trips, Adam told Macy they were going to College Station. Unbeknownst to her, they were actually going to Colorado. Here, on their surprise trip to Colorado, Adam proposed to Macy on a mountaintop at sunrise. It was perfect. :)
Things have been going pretty great ever since. Adam and Macy recently finished long distance and are very appreciative of their newfound unlimited time in person with each other. They are SO excited to get married!
