Because our celebration is in December, please be mindful of the weather forecast. Average temperatures can be between 70/52 degrees especially in the evenings.It is recommended to bring a sweater or jacket out to the ceremony site.

On the first day of their much anticipated family vacation with Garret's family in the mountains of North Carolina, Madalyn and Garret found themselves wondering what they wanted to do first. Madalyn suggested a trip out hiking and exploring some of the various nature trails North Carolina has to offer. They spent the morning hiking along pretty nature trails and driving on the famous and scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. After a divulging in yummy margaritas and a nice cozy lunch in front of the fireplace at Puerto Nuevo, a very popular, Mexican restaurant in Banner Elk; Garret suggested a drive up Beech Mountain for a short walk to the Emerald Outback trails and overlook at the mountain summit. Upon arrival, Madalyn and Garret took their time walking along the trail enjoying the scenery. The sky was cloudy and the temperature was slowly dropping. At the overlook, the mountains in the distance were beautiful and the sun came out just in time to make their moment together special.

The Proposal

When Madalyn and Garret started dating, they were quickly able to bond over long walks around the UCF campus, nature hikes throughout the Central Florida area, and trips to the beach. Both Madalyn and Garret enjoy being outside enjoying nature.

Early On

The University of Central Florida (UCF) has played a huge part in Madalyn and Garret's relationship. Both Madalyn '18 '21M.Ed and Garret '18 are Alumni of UCF and are huge fans of the UCF Knights Football team. Their first time meeting in person, and first date, was a couple-hour-long stroll around the UCF campus!

In August of 2019, One of Garret’s co-worker’s had a close friend who was fostering a kitten. The kitten was approximately 2 months old and was approaching the age where she could be adopted. Garret, jokingly sent a text to Madalyn saying, “So, a coworker (knows someone who) is trying to get rid of a kitten” and sent pictures of an adorable, tiny gray kitten with the biggest eyes. Madalyn was in love instantly. Two weeks later, Garret accompanied Madalyn to the animal shelter to pick up her new little friend. That is how Skye joined the family. Then, and now— Skye enjoys laying on, and in between, Madalyn and Garrets legs to take cat naps as they kick back and watch TV in the living room. Skye also loves to follow both Garret and Madalyn around Madalyn’s apartment, and gets very annoyed when they are not in the same room as one another. Skye is very excited that her Mommy and Daddy are getting married, and the 3 of them can all be together as a family.
