Madelyn Brown started attending Faith Family Fellowship in 2014 and Stephen had been going there for several years before she got there. Even though they both attended the church for several years together, they never really knew each other. However, the Lord had a plan that would bring them together many years later. Stephen moved off to Hattiesburg, MS to attend William Carey University. While he was there he kept praying for the Lord to bring him the woman that he was going to marry, but every time Stephen would try to start a relationship it would never work out. Stephen had no idea why the Lord wouldn't allow him to be in a relationship because he had always wanted to get married and start a family. He was sure that the Lord would bring him a woman at college, but little did he know that the Lord was preparing something for him back home that was better than he could have ever dreamed.
Madelyn was still in Spanish Fort, AL attending Spanish Fort High School. She had always dreamed of getting married and finding her Mr. Darcey to her Elizabeth Bennet. As Madelyn to try and find the man of her dreams, the Lord continued to say no to the guys that she was interested in. After the Lord said no time and time again, Madelyn began to understand the pain of not following the Lord, and that she needed to trust His timing and not try to make it on her own. Little did she know that the Lord had set aside someone for her that she would later describe as the "second greatest gift" she has ever received.
Having finished his degree at William Carey, the Lord brought Stephen back home to serve at his childhood church. While serving as the worship leader at Faith Family Fellowship, he asked a young woman named Madelyn Brown to sing with him at the Fourth of July Sunday morning service. Once she got involved and started singing more, Stephen noticed her love for the Lord and her passion to serve Him... and he noticed how talented she was with music. Stephen began to pray about Madelyn, and asking the Lord if she was the woman he was supposed to marry. After praying for several weeks and seeking the Lord, Stephen felt that the Lord had prepared Madelyn for him, and little did he know that Madelyn felt the same about him.
After an awkward first date, and several more months of praying, Stephen asked Madelyn the scariest question he has ever asked. A question he had dreamed of asking her ever since that first awkward date. A question that would make the moment he asked ingrained in his mind forever. He asked Madelyn Brown to marry him. And Madelyn gave the greatest answer he could have ever hoped to hear...
yes!
