Steven and Maddie met in a time-old tale: a run-in on the street with a precious jewel lost, with Steven painstakingly tracking her down. When they locked eyes, it was clearly meant to be.

Just kidding - we met online.

However, it's still been a fairytale (though most fairytale do not include the bride-to-be having major colon surgery right after meeting). From the very first date, there was a connection, respect, grace, and warmth that neither had ever felt before. It was bound to be "I do" from the first date.

From country concerts to the auditoriums and dance halls, from fine dining to home-cooked meals, and from Michigan to Virginia, Maddie and Steven grew closer in their relationship and found it increasingly harder to spend even a few hours apart.

After a year and a half of dating, enough was enough. Steven began plotting a proposal.

Swept away by the romance of the old Latin Quarter (as well as the efficient transit system), Steven tried his best to trick the ever-vigilant and persistent Maddie into a surprise proposal.

Convinced that Steven had planned a "surprise day" the following day, Maddie followed Steven blindly into the prayer garden outside of St. Joseph's Oratory, the hill-side cathedral that overlooks the entire city. In the plush, quiet gardens, and amidst the morning's calm, Steven dropped onto one knee and asked if Maddie would walk beside him for all of their days.

After some convincing (or, more like Maddie vehemently sobbing), she said yes.

Ever since, it has been a whirlwind of planning, talking, talking and planning, but mostly dreaming of their lives to be. But, surrounded by loved ones and neighbors, Steven and Maddie know that their marriage will be blessed, and their lives full. There might even be some laughs along the way.
