It all started with some season tickets (shoutout to Sarah Hemmen) and a Kings ticket pass. Vance and Maddie found themselves at the same Sacramento Kings game against the Portland Trailblazers on November 24, 2021. Maddie and her sister, Sarah, were strolling through the arena when they ran into their high school friend, Kyle Tooley, who invited them to hang out with some of his friends in the standing room of section 116 (RIP). Maddie approached Vance and began a conversation about another failing season of the Sacramento Kings. On the other hand, Vance could not be bothered to take his eyes off the Kings game. Thanks to Vance's sister-in-law, Alyssa Cook, Vance eventually realized that Maddie was maybe trying to flirt with him. The Kings miraculously pulled off a 125-121 win that night, which would contribute to the 30-52 record that season, and for Maddie and Vance, the rest would be history. As Maddie (and Rhianna) likes to say, "We found love in a hopeless place." "It took a village!" Sarah once said about Maddie and Vance's meeting. And we're so excited to share our wedding with that village!

What Guys Need to Know About Dress Codes

Our dress code is cocktail. We encourage floral and bright colors! We recommend midi, ankle, or floor-length dresses and/or a suit with/without a tie. Think the tan Obama suit scandal. If you feel most comfortable in a dark color or black, you are more than welcome to wear it. The wedding party will be wearing blue and green.*Reminder: May in Sacramento can get warm (80s°F to 90s°F/26.7°C to 32°C), dress accordingly.

Getting to the Venue

Google Maps/Apple Maps is a great way to locate the venue. It is on the main street in Old Sacramento, and you will enter through the main restaurant entrance. Restaurant staff will be ready to direct you to the location of the ceremony. We highly recommend taking a LYFT or UBER to the venue. Valet is available at the restaurant. Street parking is also available in Old Sacramento. Please bear in mind that this is a highly trafficked area, and valuables should not be left in the car. If you are staying in our room block at the Embassy Suites, the venue is a 5 minute walk!
