We met in 2014 at a party in a Moolah apartment at SLU, where David made the bold first move to introduce himself in a room full of people. Throughout the year, our dates consisted of studying together in Pius library and going out to eat on campus using Maddie’s unlimited dining hall bucks (perks of being a sophomore). Over the next year we got to know each other’s families and friends, and soon we became a staple at each other’s holidays and parties. We traveled the country together, going hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, taking a cruise in the Bahamas, and visiting New Orleans (also David’s first plane ride!). While Maddie finished her senior year at SLU, David worked in St. Louis as a radiation therapist before both of us started medical school in 2017: Maddie at SLU and David at Mizzou. We managed a long distance relationship through the next four years, visiting as much as we could and getting to know each other’s new friends. We got engaged in February of 2020, before the world dramatically changed. Among the tragedies and struggles of this year, our blessing was being able to spend more time together planning our wedding and preparing for our futures in medicine. In March of 2021, we were thrilled to find out we will be continuing our medical training together in St. Louis: Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at Mercy Hospital for Maddie and Internal Medicine residency at Saint Louis University for David. We are excited for our future together and looking forward to celebrating our marriage in June of 2021 with our loved ones! We are grateful to everyone who has helped and supported us along the way, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
