Our story starts in the spring of 2020 when my friend & sorority sister begged me to come to a fraternity house party to meet some guy named Nolan. I had never heard of him before, but thought it was funny and interesting that he knew exactly who I was and wanted to meet me. After being introduced, we hit it off, and naturally, Nolan asked me to go on a date with him. Unfortunately, I turned him down, thinking I was too busy and too involved in school to be in a relationship. This process went on the whole spring semester and into junior year until I think he gave up on the idea...
Now flash forward to summer 2022. It was the first week back at Purdue for our senior year, where campus was buzzing with excitement as everyone was back in their favorite place. My brother was starting his freshman year at Purdue and wanted to rush a fraternity, so in an attempt to be a good big sister, I texted Nolan asking if he could keep an eye out for my brother during the rush process. I thought this was innocent, but Nolan took me reaching out about my brother as a way in to start talking again. A day went by without any further conversation, until I felt a tap on my shoulder at Harrys (the best college bar ever!) the next night... and guess who it was? Nolan! Over a year and a half later, we were back to where we started, talking for hours and losing track of time. I remember thinking to myself that it was going to be a lot different this time around.
Ever since, Nolan and I have pursued each other every day.
Even though I have questioned why in the world did I not give him a chance our sophomore year, it is evident that the Lord was preparing our hearts in that year and a half. We entered into our relationship passionate about making each other better and focused on living our lives for Jesus. It makes for the sweetest story of pursuit and faithfulness that we are so thankful to tell!
We officially started dating October 29, 2022, after he finally convinced me to give the possibility of us a chance:) Little did I know or expect that we would become inseparable. From barn dances, date parties, walks in parks, study sessions, church, trips to visit home (Warsaw and Indy), to car rides around campus, Nolan and I realized we had so much fun together and could see this being a forever kind of thing. I could not believe that I went from being anti-dating to being head-over-heels for Nolan in such a short time, but his love for the Lord and family, his goofiness, and his dimples won me over fast! As senior year came to a close and after spending nearly every day together, we started to dream about spending our lives together as we approached graduation. Nolan and I both decided to pursue masters degrees and work new jobs starting in the summer, so we knew that this next season of life was going to be a lot busier than our relaxed, fun senior year at Purdue. Thankfully, Nolan moved to Indy so that we could continue to be together as we entered post-undergrad life. We both accepted jobs at hospitals downtown Indy, started graduate school, and spent our weekends with friends and family. We continued to do life together, supported one another in our big life changes, and continued to fall more in love. As we approached our one year of being together, we were positive that we were each others' forever person.
October 22, 2023 was a casual Sunday coming home from church that turned into the best day of our lives. Nolan proposed in my parents backyard with all of our family and friends watching from inside. It was the easiest yes ever! Thank you, Jesus! What a blessing it is to be loved and to love someone so deeply.
The countdown begins! We are so excited for July 27, 2024, and cannot wait to celebrate, party, and dance with our favorite family and friends!
As we pursue life together in Indianapolis, we believe God has called us to be on mission in downtown Indy over the next year. In the registry, we have requested 30 Bibles that we want to distribute throughout the city. We would love for you to help us on our mission by purchasing a Bible for us to gift another individual. We are excited for God's plan in our lives, and we want to pass on the blessings of God's love to others!
