Our Wedding

Maddy transferred to Xavier College Prep with the hopes of having more of a high school experience. Little did she know that would include meeting her future husband on her first day of school. Ryan sat directly behind her in English. Hearts did not flutter and it was not love at first sight. They were merely classmates and gradually their relationship status changed from acquaintance to friend. By junior year they were both on the school dance team which included traveling to competitions and performing at Disneyland. It was around this time Ryan became intrigued with Maddy and pursued her. He left notes and decorations all over her locker and even presented her with a cake. She laughed him off and did not sway to his advances. So he decided to courageously make a grand gesture. At the end of the school’s spring production Ryan took center stage. He asked Maddy to their junior prom in front of the entire audience! Maddy was not sure she wanted to go with Ryan. Being the good daughter she is, she followed her mother’s advice; if a boy asks you to a dance you should accept.&nbsp;&nbsp;After the prom and an adventurous hiking trip to Ladder Canyon, that included Ryan getting his car stuck in the desert sand, they officially became a couple. Their romance grew and matured over the years just as they did. Together they went off to Cornell University. Maddy pivoted to Ithaca College for one year before she became a Cornell Hotelie. They traveled throughout Europe during Study Abroad for a semester, enjoying all that life had to offer. After graduation they would experience distance for the first time. Maddy packed up her belongings and went to Washington DC to begin her career at the Four Seasons. Ryan headed to North Carolina to study law at Duke University. Some people thought this may be the end of our couple, but it was not. They saw each other as frequently as possible, planning their future when he graduated. Then the pandemic came. All their plans changed and they both returned back to where they started, home to the desert. On September 12, 2020 and eight years together, Ryan took Maddy to Casa Mia in San Juan Capistrano.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was there where he asked his high school and college sweetheart to be his wife amidst twinkling lights and chocolate covered strawberries. Tearfully she accepted. Together they look forward to building a life together in the community where they were both raised. Maddy will manage the family restaurant, Wally’s Desert Turtle, while Ryan practices law at Guralnick and Gilliland. Now they eagerly await March 5, 2022 when they will say their “I Do’s,” and officially change their relationship status to married.

Our Story

FLIGHT

American, Delta, and Alaskan Airlines fly into PSP and is about 35 minutes away from our wedding venue. We encourage our guests to book their flights early to take advantage of more affordable airfare.

There are so many wonderful places to stay in the area. Here are a few options that we recommend: La Quinta Resort &amp; ClubA 4-star hotel five miles from our wedding venue featuring its own Hollywood Glam-style village and several golf courses. Sands Hotel &amp; SpaDesigned by renowned interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, one of Architectural Digest’s Top 100 designers in the world, the property is 10 miles from our wedding venue. AirBnBShould you decide to rent an Airbnb, we highly recommend looking in Indio, La Quinta or Indian Wells as those locations are closest to our wedding venue.
