Maddy and Ben met for the first time during a VMI trip to the Coast Guard Academy.

Meeting for the first time

During Ben's last year at VMI, both Maddy and Ben grew closer together through conversations, bible studies, and walks to the rappel platform on VMI's campus. After Ben graduated, both of them decided that they wanted to continue to foster a relationship and see where God would take them. It was during that summer that Ben asked Maddy to be his girlfriend.

Becoming more than friends...

While Maddy finished her last year at VMI, Ben started his first year of seminary in Lynchburg. During this time they both enjoyed the close proximity for numerous visits and surprise dates.

After Maddy's graduation, she was commissioned into the US Coast Guard as an Ensign. She started at her first duty station in Portsmouth, VA, and both of them started this new chapter in their lives.

Maddy Commissions 

During this past year, Ben was commissioned as a 2LT and Chaplain Candidate in the US Army Reserves. From this point, both Ben and Maddy started planning for a future together as Ben's graduation approaches.

Ben Commissions

Ben realized the immense blessing Maddy is in his life and proposed to her on the rappel platform where their journey started several years ago. They both look forward to what God will do in their life together moving forward.
