Maddy and Alec first meet during work orientation for Smart Trip Europe. Shortly after, they got to know each other during an 8 hour shift at the airport.

They are assigned as fellow tour leaders on their first trip together, a full day tour to Cinque Terre.

At the end of the summer, Maddy returned stateside for her senior year at Villanova and Alec stayed in Florence to continue working. In one of a few cross-continental visits in the year to follow, Alec and Maddy met up in NYC.

Maddy returned to Florence to work for Smart Trip and Alec moved to Tabor, CZ to begin his Fulbright grant. Alec took advantage of the proximity to meet Maddy on a 'work trip' at Oktoberfest in Munich.

Maddy visits Alec in the CZ for the second time and decided to be in love forever! And to make the relationship official! (in Tabor, CZ).

Starting their long distance relationship, Alec and Maddy visited each other as often as possible in Italy and the Czech Republic.

For their first Christmas dating, Maddy and Alec initiated their tradition of giving the gift of travel to each other. They took their first big vacation together to Egypt!

After returning stateside due to the COVID pandemic, Alec and Maddy spent the summer visiting each other at their families' homes in Roanoke, Annapolis, and Portland.

Quickly bonding over their love for the outdoors, many COVID visits turned into hiking expeditions.

While Alec was living in Syracuse, NY for grad school, Maddy planned a surprise birthday trip to Niagara Falls!

Alec visited Maddy on several occasions while she was living in Philly.

After what would be nearly two years of long distance dating, Maddy and Alec start to scope out cities for a move. Maddy and Alec took a trip out to Denver, CO as his grad program was wrapping up to see if it might be the right fit.

It was! Alec and Maddy overfilled a U-Haul trailer and drove west.

They quickly settled in as Coloradans. Special shout out to all their Denver friends (and many friends who have visited) who have made it so much fun.

Their first trip back to their favorite place in the world, Florence, since COVID.

Maddy and Alec also explored Portugal for the first time and became enamored by the country.

First Colorado summer was filled with lots of camping trips.

Taking advantage of a long weekend to explore other parts of the West, Alec and Maddy journeyed to Moab, UT for a weekend of camping and hiking in the desert.

They made many local day trips to beautiful places like Rocky Mountain National Park for outdoor activities.

For Halloween, Maddy and Alec dressed up as Island Boiiiis and hiked around Hawaii.

Aligning on a dream to reach Asia, Maddy and Alec took advantage of cheap tickets to Japan as the country re-opened to tourists.

On one of their most brutal hiking days, they spent their July 4th crawling up 4,000ft of elevation on an 11 mile (terrifying) hiking trail to the top of Ajax peak outside of Telluride, CO.

Maddy and Alec enjoyed an annual Colorado Smart Trip camping weekend at the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

On their fourth anniversary, Alec planned a special dinner in Prague as the two traveled back to visit Alec's Czech host town over Thanksgiving.

They went back to Portugal and decided to move to Porto one day (you all have been warned).

They spent New Years Eve cheering on the hometown Broncos!

Alec hatched a plan to propose right where it all started, in the heart of Florence. Alec pulled off a surprise proposal and got on one knee in the Gardini delle Rosa, right below Piazzale Michaelangelo and Maddy said 'Yes'!

The celebrations continued with a week of travel to follow in the Puglia Region of Italy.

They found their wedding venue in Annapolis and set the date!

Alec and Maddy spent the Labor Day Weekend returning to their favorite part of the state, the San Juan mountains. They camped outside of Silverton, CO and spent time in Ouray and Telluride.

After discussing adopting a dog for sometime, Alec and Maddy stumbled across the perfect one at an adoption event and Estes joined the crew!

Alec and Maddy bought their first home in Richmond, VA and start their east coast adventure!
