Alex and I first met each other working at Olde Peninsula Brew Pub in downtown Kalamazoo. Every Wednesday night they hold a euchre tournament in the pub. One week in early September of 2013 Alex asked if I would want to play with him. We got all dressed up, went to dinner, and then to OP for the tournament. All of our coworkers were suspicious of our new budding relationship. From then on Wednesdays were "our day" I don't think we missed a euchre night for years!


Right before New Years Eve that year, after Alex and I had been dating for a couple months, I was getting impatient about making it "official". I just blurted out are you going to be my boyfriend? He starts laughing because he had a romantic dinner all planned for the next day where he was going to ask me officially. In mine and Alex's relationship, I have a tendency for ruining surprises.


Fast forward 5 years, 1 house, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 ferrets and a lot of fun times later. It is Cinco de Mayo we are at the Kentucky Derby. A total bucket list dream of mine anyways! We are standing in the middle of it all, around 11 in the morning while it was raining and watching jockeys get on their magnificent horses and I say "this is the best day ever". Then I turn over to look at Alex and he is holding out the most perfect ring and says "it's about to get a whole lot better".
