Shortly after GLIMMER opened in March of 2020, the whole world shut down. Some of you may remember this.   Even after only a couple months of dating, we decided we had a good thing going and wanted to keep seeing each other despite the extenuating circumstances.   This led to Madelaine running tech in the empty CSz Seattle space every week for Alex's online fireside chat shows, many at-home karaoke dates, and generally just making their own fun in spite of the madness. The great thing about at-home karaoke is that you're always next up to sing! Also, the stakes are so, so low.   This eventually led to a mid-June trip to Waterford, Wisconsin where Madelaine got to meet the Grindeland family for the first time.

After this trip, we realized that we were great adventure buddies. Over the past 2 years, we've visited 15 states and countless cities. Here's a small sampling of some of our favorite adventures. Note: Madelaine's delicate sense of order is deeply disrupted because these are not chronological.

Of course, that brings us to our cross country move! We decided to take a big leap after visiting Jacksonville in November of 2020, and embarked on our greatest adventure yet in January 2021. We drove from Seattle to Jacksonville, FL TWICE in one month. Our first trip was a whirlwind. We did the whole thing in less than 6 days, though we still found time to stop and check out both Memphis, TN, and Savannah, GA. Our second drive was a little bit more fun. We made a real vacation out of it, stopping in Reno, Vegas, New Orleans and Sedona. We finally arrived to our new home in Jacksonville and got settled in. Daily bike rides to the beach and sunny skies most of the time was pretty freaking cool.

Rent a bike and check out the beaches! From Atlantic Beach to Jacksonville Beach, there's plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars to explore! A single-speed beach bike is a great way to casually cruise and explore. Exploration Ideas: Take 1st Street (it's beach bike central!) and set a destination to The Lemon Bar or Poe's and explore the fun and unique Atlantic Beach neighborhood. OR set a destination of the souvenir shop Sea Shells &amp; Coral, and find yourself in the middle of the lively Jacksonville Beach area of bars, restaurants, and shops!

Ride a Bike around the Beaches! Beach Life Rentals

Rent a golf cart to drive around the beaches! Must rent at least 24 hours in advance. Our Wedding

Here's some convenient choices for places to stay. You are welcome to find alternate hotel accommodations or stay at an AirBnB. We just wanted to offer some ideas :)

If you want luxury and convenience, we are getting married on the beach just outside of Margaritaville; and it is kitty-corner from the reception venue. Right in the middle of everything. This would be both your priciest and most convenient option.

Margaritaville Beach Hotel

Also right on the beach and directly across the street from our reception venue! A popular restaurant and bar inside with an ocean view!

Casa Marina Hotel

Another great option that's walking distance to both the wedding ceremony and the reception venue! And it's right on the ocean!

Best Western Oceanfront

It's a short drive to the beaches (10-15 mins), but it's right across the street from the After-Party venue at First Coast Comedy. Less expensive than a beachside hotel, and a bit less convenient for the wedding and reception, but MORE convenient for getting home after the After-Party.

Best Western Mayport Inn & Suites

A short drive to the beaches. Another convenient location for the After Party! You'll save a little dough because you're not right by the water, but you'll get a lot!
