What should I wear?
Knocking Ceremony: Semi-formal, colorful outfits are encouraged. Please avoid the colors of red or black as they are considered mourning colors. Kente and traditional Ghanaian outfits are encouraged! Below are some examples or suggestions.
Wedding Ceremony: The dress code for our wedding is summer formal. Men are requested to wear a light-colored or lightweight suits. Women can choose a fancy full-length or mid-length dress or a dressy pantsuit. Our ceremony and reception will be outdoors, weather permitting, so it is important that guests dress in manner that will keep them cool.
White dresses
It is acceptable to wear white for the knocking ceremony on Friday. We however ask that guests not wear primarily white dresses for the Wedding ceremony on Saturday.
Where is the wedding venue?
Our wedding will be held at the home of Madeleine's grandparents, Dave and Bev Rowland, in Okoboji, Iowa. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outside on grass, please plan your attire (and shoes) appropriately!
How are guests getting to the venue?
Due to limited parking at the cabin, we will be providing a shuttle for guests to be picked up from a few different locations and dropped off later in the evening. The shuttle bus will pick up guests for the wedding ceremony on Saturday from the Vintage Block Inn and Suites and Speier Park from 2:00-3:00 PM. We will also have a bus that will pick up guests from the wedding venue beginning at 9:00 PM through 11:30 PM, which will drop guests off at their desired hotels/destinations.
Can I bring a plus one?
Due to limited space, we kindly ask that only invited guests attend.
Are children welcome at the wedding?
Absolutely! We would love to celebrate with the whole family.
