Jason and Madeleine met at the University of Washington their freshman year when they both joined the Army ROTC program. They went on to barely interact for the next two years.

They were selected as the two cadets to attend Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA the summer after their sophomore year.

Jason attended the previous class and, since Madeleine was nervous, they met for lunch to discuss what she should expect.

They started their relationship the following year while separated for Summer Training. They united for the first time as a couple in San Francisco while Jason was interning at NASA Ames.

They enjoyed senior year together at UW.

After commissioning into the Army as Field Artillery Officers, they packed up and moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for six months of training.

Jason and Madeleine both went to Fort Bragg, NC for their first duty station and moved into an apartment together just months before COVID. They were in the market for a couple cats, and coincidentally, a friend had a litter born just after the pandemic began. They spent their lockdown days visiting Charlie and Winston.
