Nick and Maddie met at Christopher Newport University in Fall 2014. We were both part of the Marching Captains and enrolled in the music program! We really started to get to know each other during the fall of 2015. Nick was responsible for setting up chairs for rehearsal, and he would always give Maddie the soft chairs!

We started dating on September 19th, 2016. Over the next few years, we did our best to attend as many performances and events as possible to see each other perform!

After Maddie graduated with her Masters Degree in 2019, we moved into an apartment in Dumfries, VA! We both taught the Forest Park HS Marching Band together for several years, and in 2022, Nick became the Director of Bands at Forest Park!

An activity that we love to do together is visit aquariums! Whenever we travel, we try to find an aquarium! So far, we have visited an aquarium in Arizona, VA Beach, Baltimore, and Lynchburg! One of our favorites is in Lynchburg, where you are able to feed capybaras!

Nick proposed on May 30th, 2023 at his spring concert at Forest Park! Maddie was asked to be a featured soloist and performed a song with the bands! After the song, she was called back on stage and Nick proposed in front of all of the band families, choir students, and our own families!

We are currently living in Dumfries with our pet Guinea Pig, Bernadette! Nick is teaching band at Forest Park HS, and Maddie is teaching elementary music at Cedar Point ES!
