During a very uneventful Summer of 2020, Madeline decided that it was the best time to meet her future husband. After all, graduate school was starting that fall, and she needed the time to dedicate to dating. One night, Madeline was swiping through a dating app, Hinge, where she came across a nice young man’s profile. He was on the bluff in Harbor Springs wearing a tucked in polo holding his Bernese Mountain Dogs. A tucked in polo on the bluff!? What a dream! So Madeline “liked” this young man’s profile. Lo and behold, it was Conner! He liked her profile back!
Within a few days, Madeline and Conner went on their first date at Sedona Taphouse. Naturally, Madeline talked Conner’s ear off, and four hours later, they closed down the restaurant. I’d say they hit it off! When Madeline came home that night, her mom, Melissa, was sitting on the couch and saw Madeline grinning, in which she said “I KNEW IT! I KNEW HE’D BE A KEEPER!” From then on, the two were inseparable, going on many dates. After 16 short days, Madeline asked Conner to be her boyfriend.
That Fall, Madeline began attending graduate school, starting her and Conner’s long-distance relationship. He was truly her rock through the stress of graduate program.
Madeline moved back home during the Summer of 2022, and Conner could not have been more thrilled to have her less than 30 minutes away.
After countless times of Madeline asking Conner, “When are you going to marry me?” (which she first asked within the first month of dating), Conner proposed on December 22, 2022. Madeline was completely surprised! It was so special having their parents with them! Little did Madeline know, a surprise party would be held with their family and friends to celebrate!
As Madeline finished graduate school in June of 2023, they were able to dive deeper into their wedding planning. Harbor Springs is a very special place for both of them. Madeline’s grandmother, Bonnie’s, family originated in Harbor Springs as the first florists. Since 1981, Conner’s family has had a lovely home in Harbor Springs, where they frequent throughout the year. It was also the picture of Conner on the bluff in Harbor Springs that caught Madeline’s eye on Hinge. Since they were young, it’s been a dream for Madeline and Conner to get married in Northern Michigan.
Let the celebrations begin!
