In the autumn of 2020, Maddie and Joe were introduced to one another at a party hosted by some of Joe's roommates. After their initial encounter, they discovered that they not only shared similar office spaces but also occasionally crossed paths in the hallways at work.

Their connection deepened through their shared appreciation for sushi, creativity, gaming and other nerdy things. Maddie introduced Joe to Wren and the three of them formed an immediate and lasting bond.

As a family, they went on numerous adventures together, visiting Michigan, Missouri, Virginia and Pennsylvania. They frequented aquariums and zoos, delighted in exploring new restaurants, but also found equal pleasure in spending quiet evenings at home just simply watching movies. As they shared these experiences, they began to dream of a future together filled with endless adventures.

On June 4, 2023, in the city of Kyoto, Joe proposed to Maddie.

Throughout their relationship, Maddie and Joe have been fortunate to receive unwavering kindness, support, and love from both friends and family.

Currently, the three of them reside near the Chesapeake Bay, accompanied by their beloved pets, Luna and Char.
