Madelyn and Dillon met in Las Cruces, New Mexico in July 2020. After graduating from college, Madelyn (University of Georgia) and Dillon (University of South Carolina) moved across the country to pursue graduate assistant athletic training positions at New Mexico State University. Dillon would be working with the NMSU football and mens tennis teams and Madelyn with NMSU soccer and swimming.

Dillon nor Madelyn knew anyone in New Mexico prior to moving and due to the Covid-19 restrictions in New Mexico, there was little opportunity to go out and meet people outside of work. Dillon, Madelyn, and the other GAs spent most of their time hanging out as a group. After spending almost every day together, working, hiking, going to breweries, and hanging out at each others apartments, the group got close very fast.

After about a month of living in New Mexico, Dillon asked Madelyn on a date. Their first date was at Bosque Brewery and shortly after, Dillon and Madelyn made it official. After 2 years in New Mexico, Madelyn and Dillon moved to Houston, Texas with their two cats, Scotty and Juniper.

In March 2023, Madelyn and Dillon took a vacation to Hawaii, where Dillon proposed on Lanikai Beach at sunrise. (Ask Dillon about how Maddy made this extremely difficult for him.)
