Matt and Madelynn met one another first semester at Birmingham Southern College in their orientation group. Ironically enough, they did not become friends or even acquaintances until senior year when they lived across the hall in the dorms. Madelynn was friends with Matt's roommates but the two never shared more than a "hey" in passing until late fall of that school year. Madelynn needed a date to her sorority semi formal and after asking 5 guys without securing a date, she asked Matt. Madelynn and Matt had the best time together at this date party and danced, laughed, and talked all night long. After this date party, Madelynn was determined to "make" Matt like her. Madelynn would go over to Matt's room quite often to talk to him. All of Matt and Madelynn's friends were aware of the potential of the couple and encouraged them in their unique ways. Probably the most unique "encouragement" was Madelynn's friend, Nico, making a bet with her that essentially made her "have" to get Matt to kiss her in order to win the bet. If you know Madelynn, she is determined and competitive so she obviously "won the bet." What started from a last minute date party ask and bet grew to a genuine, easy, and silly relationship. Madelynn and Matt were not "official" when Covid hit their senior year of college forcing the couple to go their separate ways locationally. God has a way of working things out amidst chaos and the couple ended both attending graduate school in Nashville and making things official. Since moving to Nashville, Matt and Madelynn have both received their Masters in Science, started their "big adult jobs," moved into an apartment together, and then brought a house. They enjoy life together from the simple things of cooking dinner together to bigger things such as traveling across the country.

Matt proposed to Madelynn September 1, 2023 at a private picnic eating greasy sandwiches and drinking wine, which was the truest way to represent their relationship. They are excited to celebrate with you!
