Madi + Warren

60 Days To Go!

It all started with hockey tickets

Warren is a season ticket holder to the Carolina Hurricanes. He knew Madi was a big New York Rangers fan. As generous as Warren is, he gave Madi his season tickets to the Hurricanes- Rangers game... for FREE I might add. Months later when the game rolled around, Warren reached out and told Madi to have fun at the game. In the same conversation, he learned Madi was single. We went on our first date 3 days later.

First Date

Our first date was interesting due to many factors. First, Madi was already committed to moving to Wilmington, NC later that week. When trying to figure out when to go on our first date, we had to plan around Madi moving, Warren's coaching schedule (Warren coached youth club soccer), and our soccer scheduled (we both played in multiple soccer leagues-one coed league together). The only date we both had available, before Madi moved was February 14th (yes Valentine's Day) after Warren's practice. We went to Chili's, so Madi could get a cookie skillet for dessert. Madi tried to make it as lowkey as possible with it being Valentine's Day. Warren was super sweet and still gave Madi a bag of her favorite candy (reese's cups).

Now, we make it a Valentine's Day tradition to go to Chili's and get a cookie skillet.

Long Distance

After our first date, we did long distance for 1 year. Both of us making many trips back and forth from Wilmington, NC to Greensboro, NC.

Warren knew Madi loves whales and really wanted to go whale watching one day. He planned an entire trip to Cape Cod for the week to go site seeing and whale watching. We had a blast! We were exploring Cape Cod's many towns, played LOTS of mini golf, and ate some amazing lobster.

The NYR and Carolina Hurricanes played each other on Madi's birthday in NY. Warren thought it would be a great birthday present for Madi to make a trip to NY to see them play each other and explore the city. We went to the game (Madi caught a T-shirt during the T-shirt toss), went to the Central Park zoo, went to see the Friend's building and explored the city.

Madi planned a trip this time!

Warren expressed wanting to go see the Carolina Hurricane's play at every NHL arena. Madi decided to plan a trip for them to mark an arena off the list. We went to Pittsburgh to see the hockey game, went to the zoo, and explored the city.

Many more hockey games were attended. Warren finally got Madi to wear Hurricanes attire during games.

Our engagement!

Warren decided to propose at Wildwood, NJ. Madi's family has been vacationing here every year. The last few years, Barefoot Country Music Festival has been at Wildwood. Warren had been coming with Madi's family to attend the beach concert for the last 2 years. He wanted to propose at Wildwood because he knew how special of a place it was to Madi. He planned to do it in front of the Wildwood sign. The plan was to walk on the boardwalk to go play mini golf, so that we had to walk past the sign. Madi was clueless and confused why we had to walk out of the way to mini golf. Once we got to the sign, Warren asked for Madi's family to take a picture of them. Once we were in position, he got down on one knee and popped the question. It was perfect!
