Our Wedding

A tale as old as time. Man is swiping on Bumble and swipes right on an incredibly cool woman, a couple days later woman is swiping on Bumble and swipes right on an incredibly cool man. Man and woman match on Bumble and after weeks of messaging while both of them travel, they finally plan a first date. We had our first date at Gasworks Park in Seattle where we met up to paddle board in Lake Union. It was a cold, foggy day in July but it didn’t matter, we were too excited to finally meet. After that first date we were pretty inseparable. Officially starting our relationship a month later in August, we soon went on our first trip as a couple to climb Mt. Shuksan. Shortly after, Jack had to embark on a super fun and super mandatory work cruise for six weeks. This led to the true relationship test, Madi and Cooper living together for six weeks. Almost immediately the two became glued together and that became the start of a beautiful, if not codependent, dog and dog mom relationship. It’s a good thing it went so well since Jack has since admitted that the Cooper stamp of approval was essential for any woman that would be entering his life. That was the start of what has been an amazing few years of falling in love while hiking, mountaineering, and exploring all through Washington, Wyoming, and California as best friends. In December of 2022 Jack moved to California for grad school, after a few months of long distance Madi moved down to California as well and we moved in together. Moving in together was quite a task, we both had spent our adult lives living on our own and we quickly discovered that we now had double of everything you could ever need. When not trying to figure out how to downsize our many things, we started learning how to outside climb in Pinnacles National Park. We would spend most of our weekends hanging out in the canyon with our friends, rock climbing, and enjoying the amazing views. On March 3rd 2024 Jack very sneakily planned a special climbing route to the top of a spire in Pinnacles. We met up with our climbing friends and hiked to the start of the climb. Jack asked Madi to climb to the top of the spire first and tie in and wait for him. When Jack reached the top of the spire he told Madi he wanted to take a picture with his drone. When she stood up for the picture and turned to Jack, he was on his knee, ring in hand, and asked Madi to marry him. After an enthusiastic yes from Madi, we were lowered both back to the ground where we celebrated with a bottle of champagne! We couldn’t stand the idea of waiting a whole year to be married, so in June of 2024 we made a trip up to Seattle with Cooper where both our families met us. One afternoon we hiked up to the top of Kelly Butte Lookout with our families to exchange our private vows in front of the majestic Mount Rainier at sunset. We then hiked back down in the dark to set up camp and enjoy some food and drinks around the campfire and sign our marriage certificate. Due to unforeseen circumstances (Morgan and Sam never learned to read) the witnesses, our friend Morgan and Madi’s brother Sam, were actually married that night when they accidentally signed in the wrong place on the marriage certificate. After crying from laughter for a day, we went to town hall and actually signed our Marriage license. Though Madi was sad to lose her sister-in-law after such a short time, we were thrilled to be married!!! Now we can’t wait to get to share our joy with all our loved ones in Vermont! We feel so lucky to have so many amazing people in our lives that helped us become the people we needed to be to meet each other and fall in love. We look forward partying it up with you all and celebrating finding each other and how cool it is that you all put up with us for so long.
