Nick & Madi's relationship started how every other relationship did in 2013, by poking each other back and forth on Facebook. After a few months, Nick finally got up the courage to message Madi. They bonded over their mutual love for Toby Keith and finally exchanged phone numbers. In March, Nick asked Madi to be his girlfriend and so their "Facebook official" relationship began. They went to prom together that May.

After Nick graduated High School, he went off to college at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He came back frequently to visit Madi. Here they are at the MN State Fair attending their first concert together, Toby Keith.

In the fall of 2015, Madi joined Nick for college at MNSU where they were very studious, responsible young adults, who never partied ;).

For their 5 year anniversary, they traveled to Cozumel, Mexico. They had lots of fun trying new foods and tequila!

Nick graduated from MNSU with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management and started his full time career with Ames Construction. Madi graduated in December of 2018 with a Bachelor's in Psychology and Human Resource Management. She hadn't quite gotten her fix of studying after only 3.5 short years of undergrad, so applied and was accepted to MNSU's I/O Psychology Master's program. She started grad school in the Fall of 2019 and lived in Mankato, while Nick moved back to the Twin Cities for his job.

This is what an average Saturday night in 2020 looked like (thanks COVID). Madi was thankfully in her last year of grad school and Nick would come to visit on the weekends. They spent lots of time playing card and board games and talking about what their future would look like after Madi graduated.

In the Spring of 2021, Madi graduated with her Master's degree in I/O Psychology and got a job with UnitedHealth Group. Shortly after her graduation, Madi & Nick moved into their first apartment together in Minnetonka, MN.

In January of 2022, Nick was assigned to a new construction project based out of Greensboro, NC. Because of her job flexibility, Madi was able to join Nick in the move cross country. The snowstorm that popped up on the last day of packing was a perfect reminder of why they were excited to move south for a while.

Towards the end of 2022, Madi & Nick booked a weekend get-away to visit the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. They decided to spend Saturday hiking, but it was a very gray and misty day. When they got to the top of the mountain, Madi realized there wasn't much of a view, until she turned around to find Nick down on one knee. Finley said yes too :)
