Dress Code

Business casual/cocktail attire. Jeans acceptable with a nice button up shirt. We are on a campground so women can wear heals but please note that you will be walking on dirt. A shawl or jacket might be needed in case of bad or cooler weather.

Your wedding is in May, will it be hot?

No. But if we're lucky there will be a beautiful clear sky and no rain. Make sure to check the forecast before the wedding and pack accordingly.

Passport

This is a reminder that guests from outside the EU/EEA will need a passport that is valid for 6 months after your return. That means if you're traveling back to Canada/USA in May your passport needs to be valid until November 2025.

IS IT EASY TO USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?

Yes! Absolutely. We have options from busses, trams, trains, taxis, and even electric scooters scattered across the city.

We recommend you download the 'Västtrafik' app to easily keep track of your tickets. However, most convenience stores will sell physical metro cards you can load up with a balance.

Here is some more information:

A public transportation guide - English

Guide för kollektivtrafik - svenska

HJÄLP! I DON'T KNOW SWEDISH

That's okay! Most southern Swedes can speak English. Whether you're paying for groceries or asking for help on the metro someone will understand you.

A recommendation; download Google Translate or Duolingo onto your phone and learn some basic phrases.

Hej/Hallå - Hey/Hello

Tack - Thank you

Hej då (Hey-doe) - Bye

Jag heter (Ya-g he-tar) [x] - My name is [x].

What is the currency?

Sweden calls their money "crowns" or "kronor", and use either SEK or KR symbols. GST/VAT is included, so the price you see is what you'll pay. Please be aware that cash is very rarely used here and most places will not accept it.

As of June 2024, the conversion is roughly:

1 CAD = 7.67 SEK

1 USD = 10.45 SEK

Some price examples:

Coffee/Kaffe - 50kr

Beer/Öl - 70kr (0.5L)

Dinner/Middag - 125kr (fast food) or 700kr (2 ppl at a mid-range restaurant)

Gas/Bensin - 20kr per litre

*keep in mind these fluctuate and are only to give you a general idea.
