The first and most important question. Absolutely, a well-stocked, full open bar of beer, wine, mixed drinks, and other custom cocktails will be hosted for the cocktail hour and reception.

The ceremony and reception will be held at the Tea Room at 713 Walnut Street, Des Moines, IA 50309. The Tea Room is located on the 6th floor of the historic Wilkins Building. The venue is fully indoors, but there are plentiful outdoor balconies for fresh air.

Yes! We have reserved many rooms at the both Des Moines Marriott Downtown at 700 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50309, which is connected via indoor skywalk to the Tea Room; and Hotel Fort Des Moines at 1000 Walnut St, Des Moines, IA 50309, which is about two blocks walking distance from the Tea Room. We would love to see our family and friends dressed up with us! We are requesting black tie optional / formal attire for our evening along with your finest pair of dancing shoes.

We want our wedding to be a celebration first and foremost! We do not have a theme per se – we just want our closest ones to eat well, drink plenty, look fantastic, and party with us.

We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner for the reception.

Absolutely! We have hired someone with much better music taste than us to lead charge of the dance floor.

Yes! We have a private space reserved at Hello, Marjorie, which is just down the street from the Tea Room, for late-night shenanigans and even more food.

Although we love your little ones, this will be an adult only event outside of a few immediate family members’ young ones. We encourage you to treat this evening as a date night!

Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on the forthcoming wedding invitation.

We are having an unplugged ceremony so that all our guests can be fully present. However, guests are more than encouraged to take photos (and share them after!) during the reception and after party.

We appreciate that downtown Des Moines parking can be tricky. If you are not parking at a hotel, we recommend the 9th & Locust or 8th & Mulberry parking ramps.
