We first met each other while on hall leadership together, our friends began to notice how well we worked together when our team beat everyone in the beginning of the year scavenger hunt.

As the weeks went on, we began to hang out in groups, Madison organizing them mostly to spend more time with Daylen (sorry everyone else).

One night, after a hall leadership meeting, Madison's RA's began conspiring with Daylen's RA, formulating a plan...unbeknownst to either of them, as their own personal interests for each other began to spark.

TWO DAYS AFTER the RA's had "talked", the two sat together at Campus Community, a Wednesday night worship service on campus, and Daylen asked if Madison was free to get dinner on Saturday night. However, Madison may or may not have been in denial that he had asked her on a date.

After clarifying that Daylen had indeed asked her out; and having Natalia's (one of her best friends) reassurance that it was a date (her reassurance being, "Madison you're an idiot he absolutely just asked you on a date") he took her to a nice dinner at the Iron and Ale in town.

On October 15th, they went on a second date, a sunrise hike at Sharp Top Mountain. Madison thought Daylen was going to ask her to be his girlfriend when the sun was rising at the top of the mountain, but instead, they watched the sunrise, walked all the way back down, and got in the car before he asked to date her officially (just to be sure she wasn't just caught up in the moment).

This was the day right before Christmas break, when we said I love you for the first time!

We both found out how hard long distance was, but are so incredibly thankful for how the Lord used it to grow us and grow in our relationship together! Lots of facetime calls were made.

Daylen got to go to Shelby, NC to celebrate Easter with Madison and her family, it was their first holiday spent together!

Then that summer, Madison went up to Connecticut to meet all of Daylen's family for the first time.

And another trip down to North Carolina to break up the long distance. :)

Our one-year anniversary!! Little did Madison know; Daylen had been ring shopping and went and bought her ring that night.

Soon after we returned for our last Spring semester at school, Daylen made some plans to meet up with some important people...

And two weeks later, he popped the question, surrounded by family from both sides who came to surprise Madison when Daylen proposed, and after Madison recovered from sobbing uncontrollably in the middle of a park in Raleigh, NC, she said YES!!
