It all started in the summer of 2019, deep in the kitchen of Harpoon Hanna’s. John was a cook, and I was a waitress. Between fryer grease and food orders, we spent a few months in casual conversation (mostly about food, of course).

By January 2020, we realized we actually liked each other, enough to share a Hawaiian pizza on the beach in the middle of winter. Our first date was simple and sweet: takeout from Ponzettis, eaten on the sand in Ocean City on an unusually warm January day.

We knew early on that this was something special… mostly because neither of our families scared the other away. (A major relationship milestone in our opinion.)

Fast forward to June 13th, 2025. I thought we were heading to Fenwick Island for some casual “family photos” after dinner. In reality, our friends and families had cooked up an elaborate plan, and John proposed right there on the beach. I said yes once I realized what was actually happening.

Since then, we’ve been soaking up every moment together: beach days in Delaware, spontaneous ice cream runs, movie nights, and managing life with our chaotic little zoo, our black lab Remy, orange cats Goose, Theo, and Hiccup.

We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people who mean the most to us.
