How It Started

Gerad's Version - May 14, 2022

The day we met was a whirlwind. I started the morning caddying, made the drive to Stahlstown, and by 3PM I was walking in to be seated for a wedding ceremony. My grandmother asked me to capture some video of the moment, but let’s just say the footage didn’t turn out; mostly because I was completely distracted by a beautiful woman in a blue dress sitting across the room. Sorry, Gram! After dinner, my aunt (Aunt Nene) pulled me aside and introduced me to that very woman, Maddie. A quick conversation later, I just had to ask her to dance. From Timber, to Don’t Stop Believin’, to the Electric Slide, we danced the entire night away. By the end, it only felt right to ask for her number, and thankfully, she said yes. (For the record, she had me sweating a bit when she took nearly 12 hours to respond to my first text… but she’s been worth every second since.)

Maddie's Version - May 14, 2022

I was at my cousin’s wedding at The Oak Lodge. During cocktail hour, I was in line for the bar when my cousin (the groom) said, “I think you should meet Mel’s one cousin.” With a little liquid courage, I laughed and said, “Yeah, bring him over”; never actually thinking anything would come of it. Fast forward to after dinner, and I suddenly see Mel’s mom pointing at me to “come here,” with a guy patiently waiting behind her. My heart just about dropped to my stomach. We exchanged names, made some quick small talk, and then he asked me to dance. I told him to give me a minute, I needed to grab all my things (a.k.a. cookies) as we moved from the reception hall to outside. Once I was settled, I went to find him on the dance floor… only to realize I had completely forgotten his name. I stood behind him for a good minute trying to figure out what to say, before awkwardly retreating back to my table. A few minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was him, the guy whose name had totally slipped my mind, asking if I was finally ready for that dance. With a little encouragement from my family (and even a nudge from my gram’s cane), I got up and joined him. One dance turned into another, and then another, until we danced the entire night away. By the end of the evening, Gerad asked for my number, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

March 9, 2024

To celebrate Gerad passing 2 out of 4 CPA exams, Maddie surprised him with a cozy cabin getaway weekend. After finishing a game of chess, Gerad looked at me and simply asked, “Now or later?” and I chose “now.” The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! We both sat there in happy disbelief, staring at the ring box until I finally laughed and said, “Aren’t you going to put it on me?” From there we laughed, cried, and laughed some more, soaking in every moment and celebrating the entire day together.

How It's Going

We bought our first home in June 2024 and have been slowly making it our own project after project. In March 2025, we became a family of 3, welcoming our dog Kenzie to the family. Things have been amazing, and we're so excited for what's ahead.

Simply put, Austin is the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time). What started as a rekindled high school friendship in college at CCAC has turned into a brotherhood over the last 10 years, built on being kids who act like brothers, of course, with a shared love for golf.

Joey D is the Real MVP. From their CCAC days to now, Gerad and Joe have grown close to brothers over the last decade. Bonding first over music, then football rivalries, and eventually through many almost-too-similar experiences, Joe has been a constant teammate on and off the field.

Kendra lived across that hall from me in the dorms freshman year at Duquesne. She asked me one day if I wanted to go to spin class with her which was the start of the best friendship a girl could ask for.

Ana I met in 4th grade. We were roommates freshman year of college and she has been with me through absolutely everything life has thrown my way

Syd was the very first friend I made in highschool. It was freshman first night and she complimented my Harry Potter tshirt I was wearing -  I knew then that our friendship would go places

I met Kassi the first day of kindergarten. She was crying and didn't want to leave her mom - I went up to her seeing how to make her feel better and asked her to play. Kassi is not only one of my oldest best friends but she's family

Bruno is the undisputed King of Bowling, Boarding, and Bass riffs. What started as a high school friendship grew even stronger when he and Gerad roomed together at Slippery Rock. After three years of living side-by-side at SRU and another five years since, their bond has only deepened.

Chris, better known as CMac, is the definition of loyalty. From Shaler days to many rounds of golf and unforgettable nights out, he’s been a steady presence and a constant source of laughter and wisdom. Gerad and Chris share that rare kind of friendship where you pick up right where you left off, every single time.

Jordan has been a friend since childhood, and truly feels like family. From childhood games to late-night hangs, Jordan has been there through every stage of life. He and Gerad have the kind of lifelong friendship you can always count on, no matter the distance or time apart.

Jimmy is not only Gerad’s future brother-in-law, but also a fellow One Piece fanatic—so yes, expect plenty of Straw Hat talk at the wedding. Beyond their many shared interests, Jimmy brings great energy and genuine care to every room he’s in, and Gerad is excited to officially call him family. Lately, Gerad’s even wearing off on him, as Jimmy has started to pick up golf.

What time should I arrive?

We ask that all guest arrive 15-30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Once the ceremony starts, guests will not be allowed in

Can I have a plus one?

On your invite there is how many seats you have at our wedding. You will be unable to RSVP for more than what we allow. The Oak Lodge has a strict maximum capacity that we have to abide too.

Where can I stay?

The Oak Lodge offers a limited amount of on site cabins available for rent on a first come first serve basis once the official invites go out. There are multiple hotels/AirBNBs near by. Information on hotel blocking to come.
