WASHINGTON REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT
For our traveling guests, we recommend flying into Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA). Metro accessible and the closest to the city, DCA will give you the simplest travel experience.
DULLES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
If you choose to fly into Dulles International (IAD), you can opt to take the Silver Metro Line into the city (60 minutes, ~$5) or Uber/Lyft (30-50 minutes, ~$40-60).
BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL
Travel into DC from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is made easy by finding the Marc (30 minutes, ~$10), a quick train that takes you from BWI directly to Union Station in the heart of DC, where you can metro or Uber to your lodging.
METRO
We're huge fans of of the metro! $15 should be plenty for your whole weekend (Metro Card Purchasing How-To video here).
BIKES & SCOOTERS
Obsessed with these. Highly recommend downloading the phone apps for Capital Bikeshare (explained here), Lime, or Lyft to cruise around. Be aware that there are some restricted no-park zones (such as National Mall).
UBER & LYFT
Lyft is typically cheaper, but both are great and always available!
CAR RENTAL
We would not recommend renting a car during your travels unless you really need one... DC parking can be rough.
