Make sure to hit at least a one Madtown classic on your visit here! All recommendations are within walking distance of the Capitol.
Shortstack Eatery (Breakfast) -
Don't bother trying this past 9AM - it's not worth the line, but if you can get up early the eggs benedict or cajun biscuits and gravy are old favorites of ours.
Paul's Pel'meni-
Pretty much the ideal cheap college food right here - this place will give you all the carbs you desire in the form of a beautiful gourmet Russian dumpling. Add "the works". As an added bonus, their bathroom transports you to a scene from "the shining".
Gotham Bagel (Breakfast)
Again, you're going to get the best service here before 9AM BUT their art cherry shmear and a cinnamon raisin bagel can't be beat. Justin would like to advise everyone that the last time we got here at 11AM it took them about an hour to make our sandwiches so he is UPSET with them, but if you're willing to wake up early it's worth it.
Lucille-
We recommend the She's AMaizing thincrust pizza. You'll thank us later.
Basset Street Brunch Club-
Again - I'd get here before nine if you can. This place has solid brunch - if you have a sweet tooth I recommend the coconut french toast. We definitely have a couple stolen mugs from here handed down from various roommates.
Maharani-
Justin and I ate here at least once per week (regrettably - sometimes twice) for a couple years when we lived one block down the street. If you are interested in Indian food and a heavier meal, we highly recommend this place.
Great Dane -
If you're open to a fair bit of spice, try the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwhich. They have rentable pool tables! This place has a classic Wisconsin bar vibe with some surprisingly good food.
Ian's Pizza -
Ever wanted macaroni on your pizza? Me neither. Ha! Try smokey the bear or their classic margherita slice instead of the macaroni monstrosity. [Justin disagrees, if you try both and tell me I'm right I'll give you a high five at the wedding]
