Our story doesn't have the beginning of having a love at first sight moment. It doesn’t begin with having the same classes in high school. Our story begins all the way back in middle school, as being nothing more than friends, no more than a simple Hi in the hallway at church and both being on our way. Our story begins with Maddie, the quiet girl who hid in the back, afraid of any type of spotlight, and Joel, the loud and obnoxious teenager who loved any spotlight he could get. Our story began as us two being total opposites and not seeing what was a couple years down the road. Many years went by with us growing together as friends and being just that, friends. The summer after our sophomore year of high school things changed, we started spending more and more time together and began thinking of each other as more than friends. We couldn’t keep telling ourselves, Oh its's just Joel, I can't be feeling this way about him, and vice versa. We decided to give dating a try and see where it would take us. We spent many days playing games, watching movies, and just spending time together. We went to many school dances, many sports games, and spent countless hours studying and doing homework together. Many trips to Chick-Fil-A and plenty runs for ice cream filled our summer nights. Neither in those summer nights, nor in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that the decision we made when we were both barely sixteen years old would lead us here, to our wedding day. We are both so glad and so blessed that God put us together and cannot wait to see what He has in store for us.
