We both went to high school at Bethlehem Academy and graduated one year apart. Although we hadn't been close in high school we would connect at Maddie's cousin, Kyle's wedding (who was also Drew's friend from high school).

Prior to this I (Drew) had tried to gain Maddie's attention via Instagram to moderate success. I had successfully gotten Maddie's phone number and we had been talking for a few weeks when she (allegedly) lost her phone during a camping trip in Montana and abruptly stopped responding to me (ghosted as the kids would say). Thankfully I'm a very persistent and determined individual, and I knew I'd have another opportunity to make an impression.

This opportunity would come when I received an invite to Kyle's wedding back in our hometown of Faribault, which also just so happened to occur on my 27th birthday (I took this as a good sign and gained irrational confidence from it). I knew Maddie would be there and that this was my chance. I got a new haircut, a new suit, and spent hour practicing my smile in the mirror.

I (Maddie) ran into Drew's mom at Wal-Mart the morning of the wedding, where she informed me that Drew would also be attending the wedding. In that moment it felt like this encounter was fate, because I would be lying if I said I hadn't already been hoping he was going to be there too.

Three days after the wedding we went on our first date at Hazelwood in St. Louis Park. Flash forward to present day, we couldn't be more excited to be planning a wedding of our very own.
