What date should I RSVP by?

May 1st or sooner would be great

What time will your wedding reception end?

It ends at 11pm

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The Reception is indoors and the Ceremony is outside on the deck overlooking the Lake.

What is the dress code for your wedding?

We would say dressy casual dress code. If the men would like to wear nice jeans we are fine with that. Please dress in what you are comfortable in. If you want to take a walk around the lake beforehand bring some comfortable walking shoes to change into.

What is the weather like in the area?

Th average high temperature in June at Sylvan Lake is 74 degrees.

What time should I arrive at your wedding ceremony?

The ceremony starts at 4:30pm but we would suggest getting to the Lake early to find a parking spot as it is a very busy location in the summer months. If the parking lot is full you are allowed to park along the road to the left of the General Store that heads up to some of the cabins.

What is there to do around the venue before the wedding?

There is a General Store with Souvenirs right next to the venue as well as a beautiful walking trail around the lake that can be accessed from the parking lot. The Sylvan Lake Shore Trail is a 1 mile easy route that takes an average of 25 minutes to make the loop. It is a beautiful walking path around the shore of Sylvan Lake. Sylvan Lake is considered the "crown jewel" of Custer State Park. Although only a mile long, this trail is a must do. All around the lake there are breathtaking views.

Is there a Fee to get into the State Park?

When you arrive at the Lake there will be an entrance station. Here you can let them know you are attending a wedding and you will receive a free pass for the day. There is a 7 day pass available for $20 if you are planning on visiting more of the park during your stay.

What other activities are available at Sylvan Lake?

1. Hiking - Hiking is a first choice on a list of “to-do’s” at Sylvan Lake. The lake is a hub of several popular trails that people literally travel all over the globe to hike. 2. Paddleboard, Kayaking, and Canoe Rentals - This lake is special because motorized boats are not allowed on the lake so you can feel safe to row around the lake at your leisure without worry over a fast-paced boat headed your way. The rentals are all on a first come first serve basis but they do have a generous amount of each item. 3. Swimming - Swimming is comfortable in the heat of summer. Again with the lack of motorized boats, this is a safe place to swim. There are however no lifeguards. 4. Fishing - This is a great lake for fishing and can be done from the shore or in a canoe. The most popular fish caught are trout. Make sure you grab a fishing license before casting that line! 8. Rock Climb - Sylvan Lake and the Needles Highway are home to some of the best rock climbing in the area and offer climbing for all levels of expertise from beginning to expert.

Is this where a movie was filmed?

Yes - Sylvan Lake was featured in the Nicholas Cage movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets. In it you can see Cage up on the rocks, reaching his arm into a crevice. It is alot of fun for kids to climb the rocks trying to find this spot.
