Where is the wedding taking place?
Our ceremony and reception will be held at The Legare Waring House just outside of Downtown Charleston in West Ashley. The ceremony will be held under the Avenue of Oaks and the reception will be just steps away in the courtyard of the home.
What is the weather like?
Charleston in May in a word -- stunning! It's arguably one of the best months to visit. You can expect daytime averages between the mid 70s and low 80s, with it dropping to the mid 60s in the evenings. May typically sees low precipitation levels. However, the coast often sees quick, light, unannounced rain showers that disappear as quick as they come. It is wise to keep an eye on the radar and pack a light rain jacket or umbrella before you go exploring the city.
What is the dress code?
For our wedding, the dress code is Garden Party Chic! This entails an elegant and colorful attire that's not as formal as black tie but still exudes style. Think of it as dressing your best for a sophisticated garden affair, akin to Easter Sunday attire or the Kentucky Derby without the fascinators. We encourage guests to embrace color in their outfits, though it’s not a requirement. Feel free to express yourself with vibrant hues! For those who wish to consider the bridal party’s attire, please note that the bridesmaids will be wearing blue. However, this is merely a point of reference, and blue is by no means off-limits for guests.
Gentlemen may wish to opt for linen blend suits or other breathable fabrics to stay comfortable in the outdoor setting. Please, no denim. As the venue is entirely outdoors and includes walking on grass, women are encouraged to choose wider heels or flats to navigate the terrain without sinking into the grass or discomfort. Overall, the aim is to strike a balance between style and comfort, ensuring everyone looks fabulous while enjoying the festivities amidst nature's backdrop.
How do I RSVP?
Kindly RSVP through our wedding website by selecting the RSVP tab. Please note that the deadline to submit your response is April 5th. Any responses not received by that date will be automatically recorded as a decline. We appreciate your understanding!
WILL THE CEREMONY and reception BE TAKING PLACE INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?
The Ceremony and reception will both be entirely outdoors.
What's the best way to get to the venue and will there be parking?
The guest parking lot is free and mere feet from the ceremony space. For those planning to drink, we encourage you to take an uber or lyft. They are fairly easy to catch as the venue is close to downtown Charleston.
Are kids invited?
We're thrilled to have you be a part of our wedding celebration! Children are welcome at our wedding, but we kindly ask that only those specifically listed on the invitation attend. Please note that no children under 5 are permitted, except for those in the wedding party. This is due to venue safety concerns, specifically that our venue backs up to a pond with alligators. We'd hate for our wedding to be the night little Billy loses a hand so for the safety and comfort of all our guests, especially the little ones, we appreciate your understanding in this matter.
That being said, we don't want this to stop you from being able to attend! We understand finding childcare can be tough when traveling!! Madison has reached out within her network to compile a list of Charleston area Peds/L&D/NICU/etc nurses and nursing students who take side jobs babysitting. Please reach out to her to be connected to someone who can watch your little one while you and your partner enjoy a kids free night at our wedding.
The big guy we met while touring the venue.
Where should we stay?
Due to the wide array of options in Charleston, we have decided to forego a traditional hotel block. Please see the "Travel" section of our website for more information on accommodations.
Do I get a plus one?
Our invitations are addressed specifically to those we're inviting, so the presence of a plus one will be indicated by the names listed on your invitation.
Can my dietary restriction be accommodated?
Yes! Please note them in your RSVP.
Are you having an unplugged ceremony?
YES! The ceremony is 100% unplugged. We love our photographer and you will too! That means you don't have to worry about getting photos during the ceremony cause she's already on it. We'd like to look back on our wedding day photos and see your face, not your cellphone!! We're asking all phones to be put away during the ceremony and any personal photos with the bride and groom to wait until afterwards during the reception.
Bridesmaid Chrissy has volunteered to be on cellphone patrol.
