Our Wedding

Our story is narrated by Ryan Jenks edited by Madison Massmann (soon to be Jenks!!)I first met Madison at a mutual friend Isabel’s house in St. Louis because she needed a ride. Like many people during the summer of COVID, we were bored and my best friend, Kenneth (best man) had invited the three of us over to watch his older sister, Madeline (bridesmaid), dye his hair pink. Isabel had texted me a few hours before asking if her friend could also catch a ride to Kenneth’s house. Madison and I had never met, but we quickly found out we had many mutual friends. I won't forget the first time I saw her and how drop dead gorgeous she was when I saw through my rear view mirror. As she walked up to my car, I remember thinking to myself, “Don't put your foot in your mouth, Ryan.” Not even 10 minutes later I did just that and told her she was wrong (about something she was right about) and how she couldn't be more wrong (about something she couldn't be more right about). At that point, I determined I had already lost the battle and continued to share my silly thoughts about why I thought she was wrong. Once we got to the hair dying party, Madison and I chatted some and cracked a few jokes. I knew had a chance when we got in the car to drive back Isabel rode in the back seat and Madison took the passenger seat.From that moment on we texted, called and talked like crazy. I asked her out a few weeks later in the parking lot of our youth group in front of our friends. On our first date, Madison revealed to me (and to my surprise) that we had actually been set up. Her best friend Frances (maid of honor) and Kenneth had match-made us behind my back to help me get over another girl and presented me as a possibility to Madison. She didn't think much would come of the set up, except for the potential of a new friend, so she agreed. Imagine her surprise when the set up actually worked!	 Some of our favorite memories from early on in our relationship include our time at St. Clement youth group and going to pray in the chapel there together. We said “I love you” for the first time on August 15th, 2020 and have always felt Mary’s intercession in our relationship. We both found colleges that fit us (myself at the University of Georgia and Madison at Florida State University) and couldn't imagine a time where we wouldn't be together.But, that time came we broke up for a year and a half because we both felt called to grow individually for a time. I am sure many of our college friends clearly remember that time of us being apart, but longing to be together. We experienced a good amount of growing pains when we got back together. We hadn't dated for a long time, we needed to figure each other out again and we needed to do all of it through long distance. We needed to talk more, get back into patterns, and be honest to a fault sometimes. That part of our relationship was the hardest, but we both fought and worked through it together with God.Madison graduated college in three years (smarty farty 2024 FSU alumna) and she decided to enter into a mission year with Lifeteen missions at Camp Hidden Lake where she had served the summer before. Hidden Lake is in Georgia and only an hour and a half from the University of Georgia. That year 2024-2025 was a great year for us, not because we had less distance, not because we talked more, and not because she got to start dating a D1 athlete (lol). It's because we started to finally listen to each other better, pray better and be there for one another better. It's cheesy I know, but that's the truth. We worked through the hard times now to attempt to make it easier in the long run (which she knows is true, I definitely tend to take the harder paths in life.) On November 16th she got to finally get her dream engagement in St. Louis inside the chapel of the youth group where I originally asked her out- a moment we had both been hoping and praying about for five years. This year on August 15th 2026 we will be getting married! I'd say that this was pretty well said as far as stories go, then again I wrote it, and y'all wanted to read this far, so thanks!

Catholic weddings are known for having what is called the "Catholic Gap" which is a period of time between the Nuptial mass and the reception. Take this time to explore St. Louis, try some of our favorite spots, or rest up before the reception!

Our Recommendations

Wear your favorite, fun colors and florals! Attire should be appropriate for mass and busting a move on the dance floor! We recommend midi or maxi dresses for women and a suite or blazer with dress pants and tie for men. Moonrise Hotel

Located in the Central West End, this is a nice option for your stay. It is an 8 minute drive from the reception and a 21 minute drive to the church. Estimated cost: $180-$250 a night

The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza St. Louis

Located Downtown, this option gives you a great view of Downtown and the Arch! It is a 15 minute drive from the reception and a 22 minute drive to the church. Estimated cost: $150-$180 per night

Located in Brentwood, this option is right between the church and reception venue. It is an 11 minute drive from the reception and 15 minute drive to the church. Estimated cost: $180-230 per night
