We met in the Summer of 2021, while Maddy was working and living in Cary and Patrick was coaching golf and earning his MBA at Mount Olive.On our first date, Patrick picked up Maddy from her apartment, where he waited 25 minutes in his truck, as she was naturally 25 minutes behind on getting ready. We headed to a brewery in Cary for our first date, where Maddy made Patrick sit outside in 100 degree heat. Patrick often jokes that he never even got a word in on our first date. Patrick was the perfect gentleman.On our second date, Maddy was overserved on margaritas and scream sang Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson on the drive home. Patrick still asked for a third date.For our third date, Maddy asked to go to the zoo. Maddy's favorite animal of all time is a grizzly bear, and she wanted to see him. Maddy made sure that the grizzly bear enclosure was the last one they went to, and they walked around for 4+ hours in the North Carolina Summer heat. When they got to the grizzly bear habitat, there was a sign sharing that the grizzly bear had died :-)Patrick STILL asked for a fourth date, and the rest is history! Patrick and Maddy moved in together in 2022, just after a year of dating.We bought our first house together in February 2024 and rescued our sweet little angel German Shepard/Dobermann mix, Winnie, in August of 2024.Patrick finally popped the question on December 1, 2024 after a long weekend in the mountains (on the last day of the trip! omg the drama). We are so excited to see where this next season of life takes us!
