Saturday, May 13, 2018Madi and Cody walk into a bar on a Saturday night in Galveston, Madi out for a fun night with her roommate and Cody celebrating another successful cookoff with his teammates. One cheesy pickup line, a few drinks, and a couple of hours of conversation later, they leave with each other’s numbers (and share their first kiss).&nbsp; Monday, May 15, 2018A few days after meeting and on the eve of his birthday, Cody takes Madi out on the first of many dates. Madi loved how Cody came to the door to pick her up, and Cody loved when Madi rapped a Ty Dolla $ign song in the car on the way home.&nbsp; Friday, October 19, 2018Five months later, Madi and Cody find themselves backpacking in Colorado on a trip that turned out to be a little more strenuous and a little less fun than they anticipated. Cody stops Madi on the trail, and she thinks he is about to tell her that he will need some space when they get home. But at 11,000 ft above sea level, he says "I've been wanting to tell you that I love you." Madi says, "I love you, too."&nbsp; Thursday, August 27, 2020The following summer, Madi graduates with her PhD and Cody helps Madi pack up the last few things at her apartment in Galveston for her move back home to Dallas. They agree they want different things - for Cody, it's his family and friends at home in League City, and for Madi, it's her family and friends at home in Dallas. They hug for what they think is the last time, and Madi drives away.&nbsp; Thursday, August 19, 2021One year later, Cody and Madi are pathetically miserable without each other, and their family and friends are sick of hearing about it. Madi drives from Dallas to Houston to meet Cody for dinner under the guise of "catching up". If you ask Madi, she’ll tell you this dinner was part of her elaborate plan to quit her job in Dallas, take a new one in Houston, and rekindle things with Cody. Cody will tell you this rekindling was all his idea, facilitated by subconscious cues, wit, and charm. Regardless, they leave that dinner both knowing exactly what they wanted – each other.&nbsp; Saturday, May 14, 2022Nearly four years to the day they met, Cody proposes to Madi in Galveston just a few blocks from where they first met. He surprises her with a knockout ring and an engagement party with their families. Of course, Madi says "Yes!" Saturday, January 7, 2023Cody and Madi will be making it official!
