Our Wedding

<p>We officially met on Saturday May 13, 2023, but I (RJ) tried reaching out to Maddie on instagram a few weeks prior. Maddie 100% rejected me. She will claim that she didn't and was busy at work, but I know a lame response when I see one! Never mind all that, and back to May 13. It was the Buc days Rodeo. I had bought tickets for my parents and I, as a Mother's day gift since Tracy Lawrence was playing that night. Maddie on the other hand had tickets to both Tracey Lawrence and John Conlee at the Post OG that night. I thank God constantly she chose Tracy Lawrence that night. All though I'm not sure I could've missed John Conlee live. Well that night we both had dirt passes for the concert and just so happened Maddie and her mom Carla stood right behind my parents and I. My dad (Rick Gonzales) said he told my mom (Andrea) " RJ is going to dance with her" referring to Maddie. He was right, I waited for a good song to play. When Tracey Lawrence started a cover of Joe Diffie's John Deere Green so I went for it. I quickly turned around and asked Maddie to dance. Her response "sure' I know pretty lame response... again! after the dance I made sure not to say my name to see if she remembered who I was. Well shortly after the concert guess who messaged me on instagram. That's right the girl with the lame responses. Side note I told her if I write this it would be from my perspective, so that's what you're getting and she going to have to live with that! After that night we began talking everyday, and went on our first date a week later. Initially I planned for us to eat dinner at Water Street downtown. Luckily it was packed because I later found out Maddie is not a fan of Water Street, so we settled for Railroad. Dinner quickly ended, but we both felt we hadn't had enough time. That night we sat in my truck in the Railroad parking lot laughing, and talking for over an hour before I felt I needed to get her home before I gave her family the wrong impression. We both had such a great time that night I invited Maddie to go golfing with me, my Brother in law, and his buddies the next day. After that weekend Maddie and I spent every opportunity we had together. Our connection grew and I felt very fond of her. Roughly a month after our first date while we were hanging with my family for our weekly Sunday funday. I couldn't stop looking at her, Maddie being her nosey self, asked "why are you staring at me?" Well I couldn't help but tell her I love her for the first time. In a true Maddie response without missing a beat she says "So you love me but I'm not your girlfriend yet." As you can guess we made is official right there. We continued growing our love and connection to each other. A year later I had gotten a little raise at work and Maddie landed a good job with Driscoll Childrens Hospital. This made me see we were in a good time in life to make our next step. I mean I knew it would happen eventually it was just a matter of when. I proposed to Maddie May 31, 2024 just over a year from when we met. Some would say it was quick, but from the advice I've been given I learned there's never a perfect time and no matter how long you've been together there will always be challenges. This is our story, and brings us to where we are today. Getting ready to vow to each other to always keep loving one another and keeping our Lord and savior at the center of our relationship. We are both so excited to share that day with friends and family, and hope to see all of you there! Thank you all for reading, and more importantly being apart of our lives! God bless!</p>
