David & Maegan met in 2008 through their church’s puppet team. Maegan was in 7th grade, and David was in 5th grade. They became friends and had mutual interests, such as video games. Often, they could be found together goofing around and enjoying their time with their peers. Maegan’s first impression of him was “He’s funny.” David’s first impression of her was, “She’s pretty.” However, neither had any interest in pursuing a relationship with the other. They remained friends through high school, during which time David developed a significant crush on Maegan. Maegan had a hunch that he liked her, but Maegan did not feel the same way about him, so she never brought it up and just continued to be friends.

In 2015, Maegan graduated high school, left the puppet team, and started attending college at Grace College and Seminary in their hometown of Warsaw, IN. While Maegan was at college, David and Maegan hung out a little less but still kept in contact. But they always enjoyed seeing each other when they did hang out. Two years later, David graduates high school, leaves the puppet team, and also decides to go to Grace College and Seminary. Ironically, even though Maegan and David were attending the same college, they began to hang out less and less frequently, limited to maybe once or twice a year.

2018, Maegan graduated college and started interning at WEPC (the church where she and David did puppets together). David, at this time, is still attending college. One night, after hanging out, Maegan asks David if he is interested in her. He said yes, but Maegan said she STILL did not feel the same way. They continued to remain friends after that for the next couple years.

By the end of 2020, David & Maegan completely cut communication with each other. The last thing they text each other is ‘Merry Christmas.’ After that, they go their separate ways. Maegan continues working at WEPC, and David plans to move to Florida.

Cut to 2023, David’s plans for Florida don’t pan out. He moves into an apartment by WEPC and decides that he wants to start going back to church. On September 24, he shows up at WEPC. Maegan spots him and literally runs toward him out of excitement. Neither expected to see each other again. David thought Maegan would’ve left town, and Maegan thought he died. On October 18, 2023, while Maegan was working, David walked past the church. Maegan sees him walking by, gets upset because he doesn’t come in & say hi, and calls to tell him to come in and say hi to her. From there, David stops by almost every day around 4 PM to chat with her, and they sit with each other at church. They become best friends.

October 26, 2023, after an encouraging conversation with David, Maegan begins to wonder if she might have feelings for David and if he has feelings for her. She starts praying for clarity. 2 days later, Maegan & David go to a haunted house, but Maegan gets scared 2 minutes in, so they call it off early and decide to go and grab dinner and watch a movie at David’s apartment. Maegan was immediately impressed with how safe David made her feel.

October 31, 2023, David & Maegan serve at a Halloween Outreach event. When the event is over, they decide to keep hanging out afterward. At the end of the night, Maegan knows how she feels about David but waits for him to bring it up.

November 3, 2023, Maegan & David hang out after church, playing video games, watching movies, and random TV shows. Maegan then changes her mind about waiting and mentions how much they have been hanging around each other. She says, ‘Next thing you know, you’ll ask me out.’ David is initially taken aback, but he comes clean and tells her he likes her. Maegan shares that she likes him, too. The two of them then start dating.

October 18 of this year, David proposes to Maegan on the same day, at the same place, and even at the same time Maegan caught him walking outside the church a year ago. After 16 years of friendship and 11 months and 15 days of dating, they are tying the knot on June 28, 2025. Both Maegan & David are amazed at how God brought them together even after so many years.
