Their love story started back in summer 2008 where James and Maegan both worked - at Plum Grove pool. Maegan first added her phone number into James's phone so he could text her. They started texting and seeing each other at work for quite some time before they started meeting at the mall, going to movies, going to dinner with each other in *secret*.

James asked Maegan to be his girlfriend and they both said "I love you" for the first time. It took time & begging Maegan's parents before they allowed James to come hang out at their house with her. James came to every gymnastics meet of hers from that point on to support Maegan, asked her to her high school proms, despite him being 21. Maegan went away to college in Michigan for 4 years which led to long distance and many trips to and from Michigan to spend time with each other. Long distance for 4 years is never easy but after she graduated, she moved back home.

They moved into their first home together after James spent a few years traveling down to Maegan's apartment in Lakeview. They discovered some passions together (furniture flipping, building a garage gym, spending time at the lake) and adopted 2 furry dogs.

James asked Maegan to spend the rest of her life with him.
