Maggie & Shaq met while working together at the same school in California. Shaq didnt know Maggie's name for a while and referred to her as the what's up girl to his family. She would smile and say "good morning!" to everyone at work and say "what's up" only to Shaq. One day at school, Maggie claimed she could moonwalk, which was unsuccessful. She blamed her shoes and the carpet, but we know Maggie's dance moves are not up to par. These were more stories he shared with his family about the what's up girl. Fast forward a year into working together and Shaq and Maggie started to become friends at a summer professional development. They learned quickly that they shared the same birthday, were both from the East Coast and bonded over various competitive games. Their friendship remained throughout the year during COVID and on their following birthday in 2020, Shaq decided to lure Maggie in. He invited her over for a small birthday celebration with friends and they shared their first kiss. Shaq wanted to ask Maggie out, but since they worked together, he treaded lightly and planned another event. The connection continued to grow and Shaq asked Maggie out for their first date, but she said no, since her mom was coming into town. Shaq thought Maggie was trying to get out of it but nevertheless he persisted (Connie was actually in town!). He asked her out again and they enjoyed their first date on March 5th, 2021. Fast forward a wonderful 3 years and here we are today! They continue to live in San Francisco with their loving and rambunctious husky, Athena.
