How We Met! 

From my memory (Maggie), my sorority was attending a party hosted by Thomas’s fraternity. It was a basement party and Tom was in the DJ booth on the AUX cord. Throughout the night Tom was playing really good songs and he played one song in particular that made me run up to the DJ booth to talk to him. Empire of The Sun’s Walking on A Dream made me get so excited because I had just seen the band live in concert. I jumped over the booth and told Tom how much I loved the band and how his music taste was really good. The rest of the night we continued talking at the bar about music and concerts we’ve been to. I feel like it was a scene from a movie where we didn’t notice anyone around us for hours.   We kept in contact for a few months texting back and forth and hanging out at Ritter park as the spring semester began to wrap up. I think that’s when we made it official in early May before Thomas had to head back up to Glens Falls, New York and I went home to Northern Kentucky. Luckily for FaceTime, we were able to keep up with each other until we got back to school. After that summer, I feel like we were almost inseparable! Tom and I have been together for 8 years and counting. We have done a lot of long distance and have even lived in Upstate NY together for two summers. We are living in a home in downtown Cincinnati with our dog Althea currently. We love upstate so much and are so excited to get married up there!

The Groom 

Tom Jenkins is loud, messy and almost always hungry. His laugh makes the whole room turn around and that makes me laugh. Our home is lived in and has character. His cooking is experimental and delicious. If I die you might want to ask Tom what he made me eat for dinner! Tom has been to countless more concerts than I have in our lives although we now go to almost all the same shows. He can play the guitar and is a talented singer even though he won’t tell anyone. He knows how to make a solid cocktail and can talk to a brick wall. He is my comfort blanket when I have hard times. Right after college, Tom started producing the morning news in Albany, NY. He was getting up when people were going to sleep and going to sleep when people were going out for the night. I was so proud of him when he decided to quit the job and choose his personal happiness over the position and the title. That’s something I really look up to in him. He can always figure it out and I admire that because that is how I like to live my life too. He makes me proud to be his partner and excited for our future together. I know we will have fun no matter what.    My favorite thing about Tom isn’t that he is an insanely hard worker even when he works two jobs and puts everything he has into them. My favorite quality isn’t even that he is so kind and compassionate especially when I can’t be. I wouldn’t even consider his reliability one of my favorite things about him. I think my favorite thing about Tom is how he never takes himself too seriously. He has shown me that I actually can make mistakes and be okay with who I am still. He is humble without having to show it. He’s the most genuine and down to earth person I’ve met and that’s what I love the most about him. Of course, Tom’s complete selflessness, dedication and genuine friendship are all amazing qualities that I also love about him. He is funny, smart, kind and outgoing. I love how loud he is and how he makes everything we do just fun. He is my rock and I can rely on Tom for just about anything-maybe not laundry. I can relax and know that Tom usually has a plan even when it doesn’t seem like he does. He keeps me on my toes and I love the excitement he brings to my life.    If you’ve never met Tom and you’re coming to upstate for our wedding, get ready to laugh, dance, and sing with him- maybe you’ll even see him cry for once!    By: Maggie

The Bride

Maggie is that person who comes along in life and always puts a smile on your face. Her bubbly personality, unwavering passion, and positivity make her a person that you want to spend the rest of your life with. In life, we all have to overcome. Maggie not only overcomes but also inspires others with her ability to achieve. From graduating with her Master's degree, to now brewing at one of the most respected breweries in the country. It's not a normal route but Maggie doesn't take the path most often traveled. From putting in early and often long hours at Cartridge Brewing apprenticing, she was able to achieve her dreams. How often do you get to say that? You saw a goal, pursued it and now not only are successful but are respected by your peers. Maggie loves eating, even if I've made some weird health creations I've seen on Tik Tok. Do I think she likes it? Not all the time but it's the fact that she lets me be creative and try new things without the fear of failing or embarrassment. She loves to laugh. For a guy who thinks he's funny even if I'm not, that's a good feeling. It's again that feeling of comfort that she provides. She allows me to be as weird, as loud, and as stupid as I can be... up to an extent. She loves to joke, riff, and be weird. She loves impressions and dumb humor. She's adventurous, she is exciting, and she challenges me to always try new things. If I had never met her, I know my life would be drastically different. It wouldn't be nearly as fulfilling and I wouldn't have been able to live the life I've always wanted to. If you're meeting Maggie for the first time, she will make you laugh, make you feel welcome, and make you feel like you've made a life-long friend. But don't tell her I said she was funny. - Tom

If you do find yourself driving through Glens Falls, you might as well take the scenic route to the wedding venue! Start at the bottom of Lake George in Lake George Village and make your way up route 9N. Follow the lake all the way to Ticonderoga!
