We met at Illinois Weselyan University. We both ran on the cross country team.

We started dating.

We took our first camping trip together at Starved Rock State Park. This was just before we started grad school and became long-distance.

We made long-distance work while we were in grad school. Here is an example of the always very serious research Maggie worked on. Carcinization, by the way, is the process by which many unrelated species have converged on the shape of a crab. Crabs are by far the ideal body shape!

During grad school we made trips out to see each other. We also both grew out our hair.

Sometimes we visited cool places, like Provincetown, MA.

After grad school we made a big move together to New York City.

We adopted our first pet together, after Maggie's fish from grad school passed. We named him Ferrous. He is our best boy.

Only 9 years after we started dating we got engaged!
