Our Wedding

<p>Owen and Maggie both went to a small christian school near each other. Their schools were rivals since they were both in the New River Valley and<br>there was always a competitive edge between the two. Maggie went to Pathway which was in Christiansburg and started there in kindergarten and Owen went to Dayspring which was in Blacksburg and he also attended there since kindergarten. Maggie and Owen met their Sophomore year of high school, when their two schools decided to combine and see if it would<br>be a good fit. Both the schools were small and wanted to see how it would go if they were to become one school to help each other grow. Their schools only combined for that one year and decided it was not a good fit to combine permanently but during that time. However, Owen and Maggie friended each other on instagram and that was just the start. Fast forward to Maggie and Owen’s first semester at New River Community College. Although Maggie and Owen never saw each other at college, they were still friends on instagram. One evening Maggie, her sister Olivia, her now late Maw-maw Lawson, and Aunt Nancy went out to Texas Roadhouse. Maggie was having a blast with her family and wanted to capture the moment with a picture of all of them and post it on her instagram story. Later that night, Owen saw it and replied to it and asked for her number. Maggie was caught off guard and after much deliberation, decided to send her number. She thought, what could it hurt and now the rest is history.</p>

How we meet 08-2016

Maggie and Owen went to Texas Roadhouse on their first date. Owen picked Maggie up at her parents house and came inside and met them for the first time. Her dad was unsure of this older boy…..but thought Maggie was always a good judge of character and would give him the benefit of the doubt. Sitting down at Texas Roadhouse, Maggie still remembers asking Owen what he was gonna get and he said the roadkill, it’s what I always get. Then when Owen ordered, it was probably the one and only time they were ever out of the roadkill so he had to order something else. All first dates have awkward moments and this one was no different. After they had finished eating, Owen asked Maggie if she wanted to go to sonic and Maggie of course said yes because she didn’t want the date to end and who doesn’t love ice cream! After sonic Owen dropped Maggie back off at her house and said goodnight. Looking back now it must have been a good date because look at where they are now. It’s safe to say that who would have known that first date at Texas Roadhouse would have turned into this beautiful couple about to get married!

Our First date 11-26-2019

Maggie and Owen did not look at rings together. Maggie talked about what she liked and said that she didn’t want to go look at them with Owen because she wanted to be completely surprised what it looked like and when he would propose. She always wanted the man she married to pick out her ring because she knew that whatever ring she got, it meant that he saw it and thought of her and that’s something that they would both cherish forever. The only thing that Maggie wanted for a proposal was to be completed surprised. How did it happen? Maggie thought that she was gonna be able to tell/notice when Owen had bought the ring because she can read him and knows him so well but she had absolutely no idea! When Owen’s mom Donna came down for thanksgiving they went to a ring store in short pump to find Maggie a ring while she was at work. The day Owen proposed was the day he picked up the ring. Owen was out with is mom, Donna, and sister Carly watching his niece Ava’s dance recital the day he picked up the ring. Maggie had worked all day and when she got off they were supposed to go to their friend’s Christmas party and Maggie was supposed to be getting ready so when Owen got home from his sisters they could go to the party. But little did Maggie know Owen had picked up a ring and was gonna propose when he got home because he was so excited and he knew Maggie was gonna be ready to leave. Maggie had other plans for that day. She had a long day at work and was not up for going to a Christmas party so she took a shower and got ready for bed and was gonna ask Owen if it was okay if they just stayed in for the night instead. Owen came in the house and told Maggie that he wanted to give Maggie her a Christmas present early which was a pair of waders which she knew she was getting, the reason he said he wanted to give them to her early was that they were gonna go brush a duck blind tomorrow and she would need them. Owen said “well I didn’t wrap it so come stand in the kitchen and close your eyes.” Maggie agreed but was thinking, I know it’s a pair of waders but okay, I’ll play along. Owen goes out into the garage and grabs what Maggie thought were the waders. While Maggie was standing in the kitchen with her eyes closed, Owen says you can open them. When Maggie opened her eyes Owen was down on one knee and asked will you marry me!!!!!! Maggie of course was shocked!!!!!!! Maggie was just standing there in disbelief and excitement not able to form the word yes…. Owen then asks, “is that a no” he said laughing? Maggie screams in excitement YESSSSSSSS!

Our proposal 12-13-2024

We are both so excited to celebrate our love with all of you! Both of us are so beyond blessed to have each and every one of you guys in our lives. We appreciate all of y’all and hope you have a great time on this special day! We both want to say a special thank you to our close family, we wouldn’t be where we are today without y’all, much love from the future Mr. and Mrs. Weikel.
