ACTIVITIES

Brown County State Park

Brown County State Park is about a 45-minute drive from Bloomington. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the “hills o’ Brown,” but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Indiana’s largest park is a traditional fall color hot spot. Things to do:

- Nearly 20 miles of tree-lined roads and many scenic vistas overlooking miles of uninterrupted forestland

- 18 miles of easy to rugged hiking trails

- Guided trail rides on horseback

- Nearly 30 miles of beginner to expert mountain biking trails, with 400 feet of elevation change

Sample Gates

E Kirkwood Ave & S Indiana Ave, Bloomington, IN 47405, USA
(812) 349-3700

Bloomington is the home of Indiana University, both Derek and Maggie's alma maters. The IU campus is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country and we might be biased, but we agree wholeheartedly with that.

There are many great self-guided walking tours found in this guide. We recommend starting and ending your tour at Sample Gates, the historic gothic entrance to campus. Sample Gates is conveniently located next to fun college bars and staple IU restaurants. A Very Maggie and Derek Tour would be to grab a beer at Lennie's first, take a walk on campus, and then head to The Upstairs Pub for a game of darts.
